another storm right around the corner coming in tonight. so now the city is working on a quick temporary fix to deal with this incoming rain. this sinkhole is 80 feet long, 40 feet wide and 15 feet deep. it's on mountain view drive, opened up on sunday. heavy rain runsthe plan is a temporary culvert to keep water flowing under the road when it rains of a permanent solution will take time and money. some residents who live close to the sinkhole were hoping for better news. >> all our live is just -- we just have this house. seen in the last few days? in a six-day total almost two feet of rain at mount sast ta. sterling city, 21 inches of rainfall. sims, california, 17.9. this is tremendous rainfall for a nontropical area. it has a tropical connection, because it's coming from the direction of hawaii, but still a mid and northern latitude situation. seattle and portland seeing some rain, snow at the higher elevations. if anything is a saving grace, it's a little cooler this go-around, so some of the moisture getting locked up in higher elevations in the form of snow. most of that is well north of san francisco and napa valley. this will sink further south, we'll get another piece of energy later on today that will spin up across the bay area and intensify the rainfall. that's what we will be watching closely. our computer models highlight that. one pulse to the north. another one fills in further to the south. it shouldn't be nearly what we saw last week. the ground is saturated. rivers are swollen. it won't take much to get more in the way of flooding. once we get past that, we are looking at a fairly dr

at 3:00 in new york city, new signs today that crisis in syria could spiral into a global conflict. today, nato joined the world powers with stern warning of threats of possible intervention coming today amid u.s. intelligence reports that they have moved dangerous chemical weapons. the sources say it involved movement in weapon sites, the teach activity they have not seen at all before. analysts say they believe syria could have throughs of chemical agents on their hands, including mustard gas and sarin gas, a deadly nerve gas. the syrian civil war intensifies. today, officials say a mortar slanted to a 9 the grade classroom in damascus killed a dozen students. the news agency blames "terrorists," a term the syrian government uses often to describe the rebels fighting against the government which is killing its own people. activists say the government has killed more than 40,000 people, or at least 40,000 have died in the civil war which broke out well more than a year ago. we have team fox coverage. now to the state department with reaction from the united states and nato. first
